Hyperguard Web Application Firewall
hyperguard is a German security product that protects web applications from attacks using HTTP. This technology is also known as web shields, Application Level Gateway (ALG), or Application Level Firewall (ALF).
Unlike classic firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS), a WAF examines communication at service level. This normally does not require any changes to the protecting web applications.
The web application firewall hyperguard does not replace the classic network firewall, but it closes security gaps in web applications. A web application processes information entered on a website by the internet user and passes it on to a back end system which contains, for example, customer data and credit card information. hyperguard checks if each query passed to the web application is valid. For example, did the user enter only letters into the name field? Or is he entering a database command that reads information? Using this method, hyperguard prevents unauthorized access to the databases and operating systems behind the web applications, even while transactions are running and these systems are open and vulnerable.
